The DIVA Experience: How CEOs Use Data Insights, Visualization, and Analytics to Get the Most Out of Their Data Investment by Tara Kenyon.

The DIVA Experience is an interactive business networking workshop that focuses on how CEOs and Managing Directors can get the most out of their data investment. The online DIVA experience is designed for executives specifically to give them the ability to reflect on the way they do things, gather new knowledge, and be entertained – all at the same time.

The concept of “analytics” has come to mean a lot of things to different people. In recent years, the Gen Zs (the “Zoomers”) have put a stamp on the term “Social” analytics (e.g., Twitter, Tik Toc, Facebook, Instagram)—and that’s not where your business intelligence is.

Rather, your business information lives within your internal transactional data.  And it lives within you and your company.

Because smaller companies are a lot closer to the customer than larger organizations, they have a clear advantage. By incorporating their human intelligence with transactional data, the guesswork is taken out of the decision-making process. Measuring facts with “gut” and intuition gleaned from decades-long careers give small business leaders the ability to not only compete with the larger companies but also to differentiate themselves in a manner that helps them dominate their corners of the world.

What is the DIVA Experience? DIVA is an abbreviation of Data Insights, Visualization, and Analytics. Data pose a puzzling situation for most of us. You are not alone. With data and data analytics, we may struggle with several things. Do any of these resonate with you?

I have plenty of data before me, and I’m toying with some of them.
I’ve spent all this money, now I must figure out what to do with the data.
I need to have an ROI on the data investment.

In whispers, these feelings might reflect reality:

I feel like I’m the butt of a joke.
If I don’t have a “win” soon, I’m out.
I don’t know how to talk to data people.
Data people think I’m a dinosaur.

You’ve got several problems. The good news is that all these problems are solvable, and you should be able to tackle every one of them. You’ll be able to identify and tackle other problems that you haven’t observed yet—not cowering in fear but approaching each one boldly, with insights you didn’t think you had.

Because regional divisions and smaller companies are much closer to the customer than corporate HQ and larger organizations, they have a clear advantage. By incorporating their human intelligence with transactional data, the guesswork is taken out of the decision-making process. Measuring facts with “gut” and intuition gleaned from decades-long careers give business leaders the ability to differentiate themselves in a manner that helps them dominate their corners of the world.

If you put data to work…
you’ll be able to undo the heavy burdens that some of your team members are carrying.
you’ll be able to right-size your organization and free up some of your team members to do work that truly makes their hearts sing.
you’ll be able to increase your profitability and share the wealth with your team, shareholders, members, and your customers.
your team will be better able to provide for their families and their children will have a better future.
you will serve your community beyond what you are doing now. You’ll be able to feed the hungry, provide homes for the homeless, and provide proper clothing for the poor.

When data work for you…

it’s like an answered prayer.
it’s like that bright light when the sun comes up.
it’s like returning to health after a brief illness.

There is a wonderful and magnificent feeling which comes from reaching your goals regarding this kind of contribution to your industry, your community, and the world.
